Lesbian Pride 1

1999 gave us, amongst other things, the Labrys Pride flag. Designed by Sean Campbell, this flag was first used nationally in the 2000 Pride edition of GLT Magazine.

The flag consists of a field of lavender to represent the lesbian community, a black triangle that was used by Nazis to designate anti-social behavior such as lesbianism, and a labrys of white. The labrys is a double-sided hatchet that is an ancient symbol for many matriarchal societies.
